01 — Getting here

How to reach Zemun.

Three ways into the city, one destination: Glavna 32. Airport, railway and coach station — each with its fastest option, its price and a backup.

Belgrade public transport has been free since 1 January 2025 — buses, trams, trolleybuses, BG Voz and night lines. There is no ticket.

Nikola Tesla Airport

11.6 km · 16–30 min

The airport is 11.6 km from Madlenianum — sixteen minutes when the road is clear, twenty to thirty in traffic. The simplest option is the official fixed-price taxi, because you do not have to explain where Zemun is.

Official taxi: a voucher, not a meter

  1. Buy a voucher at one of four e-kiosks in the terminal (three by baggage claim, one in arrivals).
  2. Zone 1 covers New Belgrade and Zemun. The official table lists 2,300 RSD; the kiosk system charges about 2,700 RSD for Zemun. Budget 2,300–2,700 RSD. (Airport official table, checked on 5 November 2026.)
  3. The voucher covers up to four passengers with luggage. The driver may not ask for more than the voucher amount.
  4. Go to the marked taxi rank outside the terminal. Do not accept a ride from someone approaching you inside the hall.

If you take public transport

Bus 72 runs from the airport to Zeleni venac in 30–40 minutes, free — but it does not enter Zemun. Change there to 83 to Trg Branka Radičevića, a hundred metres from the theatre. Sixty to seventy minutes in total.

Minibus A1 runs to Slavija in about 30 minutes and costs 400–500 RSD paid in cash to the driver. It is the only paid line in the city. At night, 72N runs to Trg republike.

By car

By car: instead of turn-by-turn text, use the navigation button below. We recommend the Pinki garage (Nemanjina 4a) — 150 spaces, 24/7, 1,500 RSD daily ticket, six minutes on foot from the entrance. Details are in the Parking chapter.

Belgrade Centre station

Prokop · 8.6 km

From Prokop the best option is BG Voz: line BG:VOZ 1 (Batajnica–Ovča) stops at both Belgrade Centre and Zemun. The ride takes ten minutes and is free. Note: Zemun station is at Cvijićeva 1, about 3.4 km from Madlenianum — take a bus or taxi to Glavna (10–15 minutes); on foot it is roughly forty minutes.

Headways are uneven — fifteen to thirty minutes at peak, thirty to sixty off-peak. Check srbvoz.rs before you travel. If you would rather not wait, a taxi is 1,300–1,800 RSD for 15–20 minutes.

Backup option

A taxi from Prokop to Zemun takes 15–20 minutes and costs 1,300–1,800 RSD. By bus: 36 to Slavija, then 83 to Trg Branka Radičevića — forty-five to fifty-five minutes in total, at no cost.

Bus station, Block 42

New Belgrade · 6 km

Since 2024 the central coach station has been in Block 42, at Antifašističke borbe 46–48 in New Belgrade. The old station by the underpass is closed — if a driver offers to take you “to the bus station”, say Block 42.

Zemun is six kilometres away: a taxi takes 12–18 minutes and costs roughly 1,000–1,500 RSD. The free option: walk 260 metres to Novi Beograd railway station, take BG Voz one stop to Zemun (about five minutes), then a bus or taxi to Glavna — the station is 3.4 km from the theatre.

Four numbers and three apps.

Belgrade taxis are reliable when you order by phone or app. Official tariff: 270 RSD flagfall, 96 RSD per kilometre by day, 125 RSD at night and on Sundays, 1,200 RSD per hour waiting. Say you will pay by card when ordering — not every car has a terminal.

Apps: CarGo, Yandex Go and Pink Taxi. CarGo is the usual choice for short hops around Zemun.

Three questions everyone asks

How early should I leave the airport?

If you land between 07:00 and 09:00 or 16:00 and 18:00, allow 30–40 minutes to Zemun. To reach the 09:00 gathering without stress, landing by 07:15 is comfortable.

Can I pay the taxi by card?

Mostly yes, but not in every car. Say so when ordering. At the airport the voucher is paid at the kiosk — by card or cash.

Do I need a bus ticket?

No. Public transport is free. There is no ticket to buy and no validator on board.
